Is Secrets.ai Free? Message Limits and Paid Features Explained

Yes. Secrets.ai documents a free text-chat tier with 20 messages you send per day, rather than unlimited free use. Custom characters have a separate total allowance, and free access does not establish an entitlement to images, videos or calls. Paid subscriptions remove the daily text limit and add features, while media still uses credits called Moments.

The subscription guide and chat guide document these general Free rules:

What counts toward the daily allowance?

The allowance counts what you send, not both sides of the conversation. A reply from the AI therefore does not consume another sent-message slot. The documented reset runs from your first message, so do not assume a midnight reset. The guide does not present the allowance as a fresh quota for each companion.

If you reach the limit, wait for the reset or consider a paid plan if longer conversations matter to you. Creating extra accounts is not a documented way to gain more messages. Basic text chat does not require Moments, according to the Quickstart; a message-limit notice and an insufficient-credit notice are different restrictions.

Custom characters have a separate total limit

The dedicated custom-character guide lists 100 messages total for Free, not 100 each day. It also says all tiers can create a character and that the first creation is free. Do not turn that into a promise of 100 fresh messages for every character you create.

There is a documentation caveat: the subscription guide groups custom characters with paid features, while the dedicated guide expressly allows Free creation. The sources do not clearly explain how the custom total interacts with the daily allowance or how it is enforced across characters. Treat the first-character option as documented, but check the access and remaining limit shown in your account before relying on it for an ongoing conversation.

Free Moments and media: what is actually confirmed?

Free has no monthly Moments grant, and the payment rules say you cannot buy Moments without a Premium or Ultimate subscription. Buying a credit pack while remaining on Free is therefore not a documented alternative to subscribing.

Signup credits do not establish media access

The Quickstart advertises 200 bonus Moments for new accounts. That is a one-time signup claim, not a monthly allowance; we did not verify delivery to a new account. More importantly, the subscription guide says features that spend Moments require a paid subscription.

The same guide puts a checkmark next to Free audio calls, which conflicts with that restriction. The audio-call guide also confirms that calls consume Moments. These pages do not establish guaranteed free media access. Check both the feature's access requirement and its displayed credit cost in your account. A credit balance alone is not proof that you can generate an image, make a video or start a call without subscribing.

What Secrets.ai Premium and Ultimate add

The current plan guide documents the following monthly options in USD:

Both paid tiers include Time Travel and S5 chat access. Ultimate adds functions such as group chats, personas and Lorebooks. The listed amounts are monthly subscription prices, not verified tax-inclusive local checkout totals or guaranteed future renewal charges. Confirm the selected billing period and full amount before paying; an annual plan's monthly equivalent is not a monthly payment.

Unlimited messages still have a media budget

Unlimited text does not mean unlimited generation or calls. Images, video, voice and other metered actions spend Moments; costs depend on the action and settings. How to evaluate Secrets.ai before subscribing

1. Start with ordinary text conversation and check whether the response style suits you. A short exchange can reveal tone, but does not establish long-term memory quality.
2. Identify the restriction you actually hit: daily sent-message limit, custom-character total, paid feature access or Moments balance. These call for different decisions.
3. Check any advertised signup bonus and free-character option in your own account. Do not budget a media trial around an unverified credit or access promise.
4. Consider Premium if your main obstacle is the daily text allowance. Compare Ultimate only if you need its specific controls or larger media budget. If the free allowance meets your needs, the documentation does not make a subscription necessary for basic chat.
